| Aanvullende informatie |
The Piz Bernina is the highest peak in the Eastern Alps at 4,049 metres, and the only four-thousander in the Alps east of the Maloja Pass — a geographical fact that gave it outsized symbolic weight when Swissmint selected it for this entry in the ongoing Swiss landscape series. The 2006 issue continued a bimetallic format introduced for Swiss commemorative tens in 2004, though the Piz Bernina edition drew particular attention from collectors in the Graubünden region where the mountain sits on the Italian border.
