Issued on the bicentennial of Schumann's birth, this coin belongs to Germany's long-running commemorative euro silver program, which by 2010 had grown predictable enough that individual releases attracted little secondary market attention at issue. Schumann spent the final two years of his life in a psychiatric facility in Endenich, having committed himself in February 1854 after a breakdown — a biographical detail the program's centennial timing inevitably glosses over.
