| 表面の説明 | The obverse features the official emblem of the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics at center, consisting of the Olympic rings enclosed within a kotinos — a wreath fashioned from an olive branch — evoking the crown awarded to victors at the ancient Olympic Games. The design is framed by a raised circular border, around which a ring of twelve stars is arranged, referencing the European Union. The legend 'ΑΘΗΝΑ 2004' and the denomination '10 ΕΥΡΩ' appear within the field in Greek script. |

Greece's 2004 Athens Olympics generated an unusually ambitious commemorative program, with the torch relay series divided by continent — this piece covering the Asian leg of a relay that passed through 26 countries over 78 days before returning to Greek soil. The Bank of Greece contracted the issues under a broader licensing arrangement with the Athens Organising Committee (ATHOC), which had notoriously tight control over all Olympic imagery and branding approvals.
KM#231 is one of five relay coins in the set. Collectors assembling the complete run consistently find the Asian issue among the harder pieces to source in original packaging.
