| Reverse description | The reverse features a detailed numismatic reproduction of the cubist oil painting 'La table du musicien' (The Musician's Table, 1926) by Spanish artist Juan Gris, held in the collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid. The composition depicts fragmented musical and domestic objects rendered in the characteristic analytical cubist style of Gris. The denomination 10 EURO appears in the field, accompanied by the mint mark M, the museum acronym MNCARS, and the artist's name JUAN GRIS. At the lower portion of the design, the common logo of the Europ'art collectors' program is present. |

| Additional information |
Juan Gris — born José Victoriano González-Pérez in Madrid in 1887 — spent virtually his entire adult career in France, and his reputation was built almost entirely outside Spain. This coin was issued as part of the Royal Mint's long-running commemorative series honoring figures of Spanish art and culture, a program that accelerated noticeably during the final years of Juan Carlos I's reign as the monarchy sought visible cultural patronage amid deepening economic crisis. Spain was in the grip of a sovereign debt emergency in 2012, with unemployment exceeding 25 percent and the government negotiating a banking sector bailout.
Gris died in Boulogne-sur-Seine in 1927, aged 40.
