Aanvullende informatie

Schadow's most recognized work, the Quadriga atop the Brandenburg Gate, was hauled off to Paris by Napoleon in 1806 and didn't return to Berlin until 1814 — the same year Schadow completed his term as director of the Berlin Academy of Arts. This issue was released in the bicentennial year of that return. The copper-nickel version circulated alongside a .925 silver proof striking; the two share obverse and reverse dies but the silver issue carries a noticeably sharper definition on the portrait details due to the slower striking pressure used for collector production.
