| 表面の説明 | The obverse features the Brian Boru harp, the national symbol of Ireland, rendered in fine detail at the centre of the field. The harp is depicted with its characteristic forepillar, neck, and soundboard, with decorative floral and geometric ornamentation. The legend 'ÉIRE' arcs along the left periphery and the date '2013' along the right periphery, both in upright characters. The design follows the standard Irish coinage tradition established by Percy Metcalfe. |

Issued on the fiftieth anniversary of Kennedy's November 1963 assassination, this coin appeared the same year Ireland mounted one of its most significant commemorative programs in decades. Kennedy's 1963 visit to Ireland — his only trip as president — had been treated almost as a state homecoming; he toured his ancestral County Wexford parishes just five months before Dallas. The Irish government declared a national day of mourning upon his death, an honor rarely extended to a foreign head of state.
KM#78 was struck at the Pobjoy Mint under contract.
