背面描述 The reverse features a high-relief depiction of a medieval monk or scribe seated at a scriptorium desk, bent intently over an open manuscript and transcribing text with a quill pen, evoking the preservation of the epic poem Cantar de Mio Cid. The figure, draped in flowing robes, is flanked on the left by the denomination '10 EURO' and the crowned Madrid mint mark 'M', and on the right by the inscription 'CANTAR DE MIO CID' arranged vertically in the field. The lower portion of the coin features an ornate decorative band with interlaced Romanesque-style scrollwork, separated from the main design by a raised border.

附加信息

The Cantar de Mio Cid, composed anonymously sometime in the late 12th century, is the oldest surviving complete Castilian epic poem — and its manuscript, copied by a scribe named Per Abbat in 1207, spent centuries in private hands before the Spanish state finally acquired it in 2007, the same year this coin was issued. That acquisition by the Biblioteca Nacional de España was the direct occasion for the mintage.
