Obverse description The obverse features a portrait effigy of the Spanish Baroque painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, rendered after the sculptural medallion by Ramón Barba (1767–1831) that adorns the facade of the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. The bust is depicted in three-quarter profile with fine relief detail consistent with the neoclassical medallion source. The legend ESPAÑA and the date 2011 appear in the field, accompanied by the artist's surname MURILLO. The design is executed in a restrained, dignified style befitting a commemorative issue in the Spanish Painters series.
