| 正面描述 | The shield-shaped coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino occupies the central field, depicting three towers atop a stylised mountain, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by an olive branch to the left and an oak branch to the right. A scroll at the base of the arms bears the motto LIBERTAS. The engraver's signature A. NAPOLIONE appears in the lower field beneath the arms. The circular legend REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters. |

Aligi Sassu spent decades blacklisted by the Italian Fascist regime after his 1937 arrest for anti-fascist activity, yet went on to become one of the most prolific Italian painters of the twentieth century, with a career spanning nearly eighty years. San Marino's commemorative program has long used its silver issues to honor figures from the broader Italian cultural world — a deliberate editorial choice for a microstate whose artistic patrimony overlaps almost entirely with its larger neighbor.
