Additional information

Issued to mark the 175th anniversary of German rail, this coin commemorates the 1835 inaugural run of the *Adler* — a Stephenson-built locomotive that pulled the first German passenger service between Nürnberg and Fürth, a distance of just under seven kilometers. That short stretch of track launched what became one of the densest rail networks in Europe.

The .925 silver "Randzahl" collector issues of this period were struck at all five active German federal mints, each carrying its own mint mark — A, D, F, G, or J — making complete mint mark sets a routine collector target for the series.
