| Obverse description | The obverse presents a large concave mirrored field creating a striking domed effect, with a small carnation flower motif at the center — an emblem of the Carnation Revolution of 25 April 1974. Arranged in a circular legend around the upper portion of the field is a line of poetry in italic script: 'Esta é a madrugada que eu esperava', attributed to Sophia de Mello Breyner Andersen's poem 'O Nome das Coisas', with the attribution inscribed along the right arc. To the lower left appear the country name 'PORTUGAL', the commemorative dates '25.04.1974' and '25.04.2024', the denomination '10€', and the mint name 'CASA DA MOEDA'. The designer's name 'Des. Henrique Cayatte' is inscribed along the lower arc. The overall design combines typographic artistry with a sculptural, dome-shaped surface treatment. |
