| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of Queen Beatrix occupies the central field, rendered in a bold, stylized relief by engraver Bruno Ninaber van Eyben. The portrait is surrounded by a ring of twelve five-pointed stars, representing the European Union, interspersed with small raised dots creating a textured background. The legend 'BEATRIX KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN' runs along the outer periphery in raised Latin lettering. The date appears at the bottom of the coin between two small decorative mint marks. The overall design is contemporary in style, with a strong graphic quality characteristic of modern Dutch coinage. |
