San Marino's euro coinage presented an unusual logistical arrangement from the start: the microstate has no mint of its own, so all pieces were struck at the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome under a formal agreement with the Italian government. Annual mintages were tightly capped under San Marino's currency agreement with the EU, which kept most years in this series well under a million pieces — modest even by small-nation standards. The 2007 date is the final year before the map reverse was updated to include Malta and Cyprus following their 2004 EU accession.
