Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Liberia in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, featuring a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and a plough with a spade, all within a heraldic shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE'. Below, a naval combat scene portrays a warship amid turbulent seas and explosions, with the obverse of the World War II Victory Medal shown in relief to the right.
