| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed and draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair adorned with a tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim and CANADA along the right rim, with the date 1973 positioned at lower right. A small maple leaf device appears at the base of the effigy, separating the two parts of the legend. The portrait is based on the Arnold Machin effigy as adapted for Canadian coinage by Ago Aarand. |
