Beschrijving voorzijde Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, portrayed at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded, wearing a necklace and earrings, in the mature portrait style. The legend surrounds the effigy, with the dual commemorative dates "1952" and "2022" flanking the portrait and separated by four pearls, symbolising the four successive royal effigies that appeared on Canadian coinage throughout the Queen's reign.

Aanvullende informatie

The Lynx appears in the RCM's ongoing bullion wildlife series, which has expanded considerably since the original Maple Leaf program launched in 1979. Canada's four-nines gold standard — .9999 fineness — was itself a competitive move against the South African Krugerrand, which held a near-monopoly on the gold bullion coin market through the late 1970s until international sanctions eroded its distribution. The RCM used superior purity as its primary market differentiator, a strategy that worked.
