Reverse description Left-facing bust of Britannia helmeted and draped, depicted in a classical allegorical style with flowing hair visible beneath her crested helmet and drapery at the shoulder. The legend BRITANNIA 1987-2017 arcs along the upper field, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Gold Britannia series. The inscriptions 1/2 G, .9999, and FINEST GOLD appear in three lines to the right of the effigy, and a decorative denticulated border frames the design.

Additional information

Part of the Royal Mint's long-running Britannia bullion program extended into licensed collector issues, this fractional gold piece belongs to a wave of sub-gram gold coins that emerged in the 2010s as mints competed for entry-level bullion buyers priced out of one-ounce product. The Solomon Islands issuing authority is nominal — production and design authority rested entirely with the Royal Mint.

At 0.5 grams, the striking tolerances leave almost no margin for error in die alignment.
