Part of the miniature gold "Baby Animals" series produced for the Solomon Islands by a European mint — almost certainly B.H. Mayer's Mint in Germany, which struck the bulk of this program. These fractional collector pieces were never intended for circulation and exist purely as bullion-adjacent novelties marketed to thematic collectors. The series proliferates across dozens of issuing authorities, Solomon Islands among them, largely because the nation has licensed its monetary authority for such issues since the 1970s.
