Along the upper periphery arcs the legend LIB · PAR · OF SCIENCE & INDUSTRY, referencing the provenance of the original dies from the Library, Patent Office, and Museum of Science and Industry. A small circular cartouche bearing the denomination mark V/10 appears to the lower left of the effigy.
