Additional information

At 0.311 grams, this belongs to the fractional "mini gold" category that has proliferated among Pacific island nations since roughly the 2010s, where nominal face values bear no relationship to bullion content and the issuing authority collects seigniorage on collector demand rather than circulation. The Solomon Islands has no domestic gold mining output to speak of — the metal here is refined elsewhere and the coin exists entirely as a numismatic product.
