The monarch is depicted in civilian dress with a suit collar visible at the truncation. The engraver's initials 'DT' appear discreetly below the bust. Reverse description A dramatic dual composition featuring a large close-up portrait of an albatross head occupying the upper right portion of the field, its distinctive long hooked bill prominent in profile, while a second albatross is shown in full flight with wings outstretched across the lower left of the field, conveying the bird's soaring oceanic habitat with a stylised horizon line below. A small circular privy mark depicting the Antarctic continent appears in the mid-field to the right of the flying bird. The design is framed by a decorative geometric border of repeating cross-hatched motifs encircling the inner field. The inscription '1/100 OZ. .9999 FINEST GOLD' is engraved in the exergue along the lower rim.
