Liberia's prolific commemorative silver program of the 1990s was largely produced by foreign mints and sold wholesale to international dealers rather than circulated domestically — this piece almost certainly never saw Monrovia. The Burma Campaign series honors the Allied jungle warfare fought against Japanese forces between 1941 and 1945, a grinding multi-year effort in some of the most inhospitable terrain of the entire war, where disease killed more men than combat in the early years.
