Obverse description Cast iron cash coin featuring a central square hole flanked by four Chinese ideograms in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional reading order: top to bottom, right to left. The reign title 'Xianfeng Zhongbao' (咸豐重寶) is rendered in bold, well-defined strokes across the four quadrants of the obverse field. The characters are deeply incised into the flat, unadorned field, with raised borders framing both the outer rim and the inner square perforation. The overall style is characteristic of mid-Qing dynasty cast coinage from the Boo-chiowan (Board of Revenue) mint.
