Obverse description Three doves in flight surround a raised relief map of Japan, symbolising hope and reconstruction following the Great East Japan Earthquake. The birds are rendered in fine detail with feathering clearly delineated against the mirror-polished field. The legend 日本国 (State of Japan) is inscribed in kanji characters along the upper field, flanking the map at left and right. The denomination 10000 円 appears in the lower field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border.
