| Opmerkingen |
Bolivia's hyperinflationary spiral of the early 1980s was among the most severe in Latin American history, peaking in 1985 at an annualized rate exceeding 20,000 percent. The 10,000 Pesos Bolivianos denomination, unthinkable a decade earlier, had become routine by 1984 — the government was printing notes simply to keep pace with prices that changed multiple times daily. Bundesdruckerei in Berlin had supplied Bolivian currency work for years, but the sheer volume of notes required in this period tested even a well-equipped state printer.
Bolivia replaced the entire Pesos Bolivianos series in 1987 with the Boliviano at a conversion rate of one million to one.
