Additional information

János Harsányi fled Hungary in 1950 after refusing to disband his university study group under pressure from the newly consolidated communist regime. He eventually settled in the United States, where his work on incomplete information games — developed largely at Stanford and Berkeley — formed the basis for the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences he shared with Nash and Selten in 1994. Hungary has a long habit of claiming its diaspora once safe to do so.
