Reverse description Central field bears a bold thuluth-script legend arranged in sweeping horizontal registers within a lobed, pointed-arch cartouche, reading 'al-izza lillah' (العزة لله — 'Glory belongs to God') in the upper register and 'zarb rikab' (ضرب رکاب — 'struck at the royal stirrup') in the lower register, indicating this coin was minted in the royal traveling mint accompanying the Shah's retinue. The deeply cut calligraphic strokes are embellished with decorative pellet clusters filling the interstices of the letters. A beaded border frames the entire design along the coin's irregular periphery.
