| Obverse description | Bold Persian nastaliq calligraphic legends fill the entire field, divided horizontally by a ruled line into two registers. The upper register bears a portion of the royal titulature of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, while the lower register continues with the dynastic name and royal epithets. The inscription reads 'Al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Fath Ali Shah Qajar', asserting the ruler's lineage and sovereignty. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, characteristic of hammered Qajar gold coinage of this period. No figural imagery is present; the design relies entirely on the calligraphic tradition of Persian royal epigraphy. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays a bold nastaliq calligraphic inscription occupying the full field, enclosed within a scalloped or lobed border formed by a series of small raised dots. The central legend records the mint name and AH regnal date, reading 'Zarb Dar al-Saltana Tehran' (struck at the seat of sovereignty, Tehran) together with the AH date 1217. The word 'Zarb' (struck) is prominently rendered in the centre of the composition. The scalloped dotted border frames the inscription and is a hallmark of the Tehran mint style under Fath Ali Shah. The overall execution is characteristic of hammered Qajar gold toman coinage of the early nineteenth century. |
