Ausbeutetalers — mining output thalers — were struck specifically from silver produced by a ruler's own mines, a deliberate political statement about territorial resource wealth. Anhalt-Bernburg's mining operations in the Harz region gave Victor Friedrich the raw material and the justification for this issue. The practice of dedicating a separate coinage to mine production was well established in the German states by the mid-eighteenth century, but Anhalt-Bernburg's output was modest enough that these pieces were never struck in large numbers.
Davenport's German Talers II classification at #1903 places it firmly within the broader Harz mining thaler tradition.
