The Hall Thaler is one of several regional strikes of the Maria Theresia Thaler produced at the Tyrolean mint in Innsbruck's subsidiary facility, distinguished from the more prolific Vienna and Günzburg issues by the "H" mintmark. Hall am Inn had operated as a major silver-refining center since the medieval period, its proximity to Tyrolean mountain silver making it a logical mint location. Production at Hall ceased in 1776 when Joseph II rationalized the Habsburg minting apparatus, consolidating output and effectively ending Hall's centuries-long role in Austrian coinage.
