| Obverse description | Laureate and armoured bust of Emperor Joseph I facing right, wearing a curly periwig and the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended at the neck. The top of the bust projects to the inner beaded circle, breaking the surrounding Latin legend, which is further interrupted twice at the base by the truncation of the bust. The effigy is rendered in the elaborate baroque portraiture style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Habsburg coinage. |
