| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of the young Prince Christian (later Christian IV), depicted as a child prince wearing an elaborate ruffled lace collar and richly embroidered costume, set within an oval cartouche adorned with foliate ornament. The effigy is rendered in a late Renaissance style characteristic of the Copenhagen Mint's hammered coinage of the period. A circular Latin legend surrounds the cartouche, reading CHRISTIANVS·4·D:G·PRI:ET:ELECT:REX·DAN:NO·Z, identifying the prince as heir-elect to the Danish and Norwegian thrones. The entire device is enclosed within a finely beaded inner border and a twisted rope outer border. |
