(Translation: Frederik III King of Denmark, Norway, of the Wends and the Goths by the Grace of God)
Reverse description The crowned Norwegian lion rampant occupies the central field, facing left, brandishing a halberd in its right forepaw and grasping a merman or sea creature with its left; the device is set within a beaded inner circle. The mintmaster's initials F.G. appear in the lower field flanking the lion's body. The date 16·58 is divided by the main device and incorporated into the outer legend, which reads continuously around the coin between the beaded border and the outer rim. A decorative mintmark appears at the top of the legend.
