| Reverse description | A crowned lion rampant to the left, holding a halbert-axe in its raised forepaw, occupying the central field within a raised inner circle; the date 1628 is divided by the lion's body in the lower portion of the field. The lion, emblematic of the Danish royal arms, is rendered with pronounced musculature and a flowing mane, consistent with the heraldic style of the period. A six-petalled rosette serves as a stop mark at the base of the legend. The encircling Latin motto BENEDICTIO : DOMINI : DIVITES : FACIT *, meaning 'The Lord's blessing makes rich', runs along the full periphery of the coin. |
