Obverse description Central field features the crowned royal cypher of Carl X Gustav — an interlaced 'CG' monogram surmounted by a regal crown — set within a plain inner ring. The monogram is rendered in a bold, calligraphic style typical of mid-17th-century Swedish coinage. A circular legend in Latin runs along the coin's periphery, separated from the central device by a beaded or rope-style inner border. The design is characteristic of the small hammered billon schillings struck for Swedish-controlled Riga during this period.
