Obverse description Large unadorned bare head of King Oscar I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely engraved flowing hair and a small chin beard, occupying the majority of the flan. The truncation of the bust is plain and undecorated. The encircling legend reads OSCAR SVERIGES NORR. GÖTH. O VEND. KONUNG., distributed around the periphery within a raised rim, identifying the monarch as King of Sweden, Norway, the Goths and the Wends.

Reverse description Central field displays the denomination in three lines reading 1 / SKILLING / BANCO, with two crossed arrows beneath, their points directed outward, a device associated with the Stockholm Mint. The date appears below the crossed arrows. The entire central device is enclosed within a wreath of oak branches tied with a ribbon at the base, with leafy sprays meeting symmetrically at the top of the design. A raised rim borders the entire reverse.
