Obverse description Central field bears the Kalima Shahada (Islamic profession of faith) inscribed in bold Naskh Arabic script, arranged in horizontal registers divided by decorative cartouche lines. The AH regnal date appears in the lower register. Floral ornaments and pellets punctuate the margins and field, characteristic of Mughal hammered coinage. The legends are rendered in the calligraphic style typical of Shah Jahan's early reign issues.
