Reverse description The reverse presents a bold Nastaliq Arabic inscription spread across the coin field, likewise divided by a horizontal line into two registers. The upper register records the regnal year of Shah Alam II's reign, while the lower register bears the mint name 'Surat' and the word 'jalus' denoting the accession year. The sweeping calligraphic strokes are characteristic of the Surat mint's later milled coinage, produced under Bombay Presidency authority using the frozen regnal year of 46. A plain raised rim borders the design.
