Obverse description Persian nastaliq legend in the field reading the regnal date AH 1240 above, with the name and title of Mahmud Shah Durrani inscribed below, in the traditional style of Durrani-era coinage. The inscription is arranged in two lines across the coin's irregular flan, characteristic of hammered rupees of this period. The field shows typical die-struck relief with the bold, flowing nastaliq script style associated with the Derajat mint.
