Obverse description The obverse displays the imperial Persian legend arranged in two horizontal lines across the field, divided by a central ruled line typical of Mughal coinage. The upper register bears the regnal name 'Muhammad Shah' and the lower register reads 'Badshah Ghazi Sikka Mubarak' (Auspicious Coin of the Emperor Muhammad Shah, Warrior of the Faith). The Hijri date, partially expressed with the variable unit digit represented as 'X' (113X), appears within the inscription. The legends are rendered in elegant Nasta'liq script and the coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan shape of hand-struck Mughal rupees.
