Reverse description The reverse displays a multi-line Persian inscription in Nasta'liq calligraphy, arranged within a rectangular cartouche framed by a dotted border and a lower decorative arch with beaded ornament. The legend identifies the mint as Dar al-Saltana Herat and records the year of striking in AH numerals. The inscription is boldly engraved with characteristic Afghan hammered-coin style, the field showing granular texture from the striking process. The mint epithet 'Dar al-Saltana' (Seat of the Sultanate) underscores Herat's political importance during Mahmud Shah's reign.
