Reverse description The reverse presents the royal Mughal mint and regnal inscription in three horizontal bands of naskh Arabic script, recording the emperor Jahangir's name and titles together with the mint name Burhanpur and the regnal year. Foliate vine and leaf motifs surround the inscribed bands in the upper and lower margins, typical of the decorative vocabulary employed at Mughal provincial mints during Jahangir's reign. The lettering is boldly struck in relief, with pellet ornaments punctuating the design. The overall composition reflects the standard format of Jahangiri rupees struck at the Burhanpur mint.
