| Obverse description | Central field bears the kalima shahada inscription in bold Arabic script, divided by a horizontal line (jali) into two registers. The upper register contains the names of the four Rightly Guided Caliphs arranged around the central legend, a common feature of Aurangzeb-era Mughal rupees. The lower register carries the continuation of the profession of faith. The script is executed in the characteristic flowing nasta'liq style typical of late Mughal hammered coinage, with the legend filling the flan to its edges. |
