Additional information

These rupees were struck at Lahore during the period when Akbar's administration was enforcing the standardized coinage reforms codified in the 1570s — a system that unified weight standards across a fragmented network of imperial mints. Lahore was among the most productive of those mints, positioned as it was at the commercial gateway to Central Asia and the Punjab trade routes.

The KM#93.11 attribution distinguishes this by mint signature rather than type. Die-matching across Lahore rupees of this reign has revealed surprisingly consistent engraving quality, suggesting a stable corps of skilled die-cutters retained at the mint across decades.
