Obverse description The State Emblem of India, the Lion Capital of Ashoka, is depicted at center, showing three lions passant gardant mounted atop an abacus bearing a Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a bull to the right and a horse to the left in low relief. The Devanagari legend BHARAT appears to the left of the emblem and the Latin legend INDIA to the right, both running vertically along the field. The coin is encircled by a decorative milled border of uniform rectangular denticles.
