Pridnestrovie — the narrow strip of land along the Dniester's eastern bank that declared independence from Moldova in 1990 but remains unrecognized by any United Nations member state — has issued an unusually prolific series of sports-themed roubles over the years, largely as collectibles rather than circulating currency.
