Transnistria — the unrecognized breakaway state wedged between Moldova and Ukraine — issues collector coins through its Republican Bank despite having no standing in international monetary law. The rouble circulates domestically but is accepted nowhere outside its borders, and these low-denomination sports issues are produced in small runs aimed squarely at the thematic collector market rather than circulation.
