| 备注 |
The Deutsche Vereinigung in Asien — the German Association in Asia — was a prisoner-of-war organization operating in Siberia during and after the First World War. This note was issued at the Mannschaft-Lager Baterena, one of the larger POW camps holding German and Austro-Hungarian enlisted men. Camp scrip of this type circulated internally to prevent prisoners from accumulating Russian currency, which the military administration considered a security and escape risk.
By 1919, the civil war raging across Siberia had made Russian ruble-denominated scrip practically worthless even as a reference unit. Survivors repatriated slowly; some were not home until 1921.
