Bait Al-Na'aman Castle, located near Barka on Oman's Batinah coast, was built in the late 17th century as a summer residence for the Ya'aruba imams — not a military fortification, which explains its comparatively refined architecture. It fell into serious disrepair before restoration work under Sultan Qaboos brought it back as a functioning heritage site. This coin is part of a broader commemorative program Qaboos used deliberately to document Omani architectural patrimony in silver, at a moment when rapid modernization was erasing physical traces of the pre-oil built environment.
