Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a bold two-line calligraphic inscription in elegant Nasta'liq script, reading the royal titulature of Fath Ali Shah Qajar. The upper line bears the name and dynastic epithet of the ruler, while the lower line carries his full royal title. Intricate floral and foliate arabesques, including stylised blossoms and spiralling vine tendrils, fill the surrounding field and intertwine with the lettering in a characteristic Qajar decorative manner. The whole design is enclosed within a plain inner border surrounded by a prominent outer border of large raised pellets, evenly spaced around the circumference.
